Mighty Max has food allergies and can only eat Natural Balance Duck and Potato. Fortunately they have dry, can and even treats dry biscuits so he gets '"treats" too.
He tolerated the Venison and Brown Rice but they voluntarily recalled it when the big food recall happened - so he is back to the one flavor choice....
Anyone else limited like that? or have food allergies?

Yes, we ran the gamut with food allergies, here (dog & cat)! I have two pieces on this, on my blog, I think you will enjoy & learn from. Let me know how else I can help you. There is a conference call on THUR nights with a holistic vet--ANYONE can call in, let me know if you are interested.

Our three APBTs eat Natural Balance Duck and Potato dry formula as well. Brooklyn is the only one of our dogs with food allergies, but the two girls love this food so, we just have them all on it! lol! I have to say, even after they recalled the foods with venison and the caned foods, I love Natural Balance. It is a very good quality food, our dogs love it, they are very healthy and have never looked better! We use to feed our dogs Iams, but after doing a lot of research on dog foods and their ingredients we decided to go with Natural Balance. I know that there are better foods out there, but with us living in the tiny town of Palm Coast right now, we decided on Natural Balance. It's on of the better quality foods that our pet store has so, we know we can always get it and it is a good food.

Has anyone had a dog with Pancreatic Insuffciency? I recently rescued a 6month German Shephard from our local Dog Pound, at that time he was suffering from Parvo, Worms and in very poor health. I had him treated and he was doing well, but now we are dealing with either a food allergy or possibly pancreatic insuffciency according to the vet. I've had dogs with allergies, but never even heard of this insuffciency. I've had many shephards over the years and fortunately never ran across this. Any advise?? I have looked up the medication required for this problem, but was interested in knowing what type of food might help or any suggestions you may have. Thanks in advance.

Matilda is allergic to corn, so we changed her diet to rice (which is the easiest digestable grain) lamb, and oatmeal. The oatmeal is great for her tummy and her coat.
Since we took her off of corn, there has been no more problems.
Read your labels. If it says meat by products then stray away from it.
Ingredients are listed in the proportion of the recipe. example..if it's mainly rice, then rice would be the 1st ingredient. |
