Princess, a neglected Great Dane, needs our donations. I read the article and saw the photos in the link posted by WeLoveOur7Dogs in a blog on their page. Here is what is in their blog.

Please read this story.”

I am so glad they posted this link to let us all know what is happening and how much this dog is in need.

I did read the story, and looked at some of the most horrific photos of a starving dog I have ever seen and hope never to see again. In a nutshell, the article said that Princess was seized by Knox County Animal Control, who was called by a neighbor who spotted the female dog inside a kennel.

Apparently the dog’s owner has been staying in a rehabilitation center, and a relative was supposed to be feeding Princess. The dog’s condition showed she had likely been starved for months. When they got her out of the kennel, she couldn’t stand up. Initially they planned to euthanise her, but they said that she was so sweet natured and loving, and even weighing half the normal weight, still wagged her tail.

I called the shelter listed in the article. They said she would be in the care of a vet for some time. I asked the shelter for the name of the vet and then spoke to the vet’s office. They told me that Princess is doing much better but will need a lot of medical care . She is thought to be about 7 years old, weighs only 75 pounds which is about half what her weight should be. They could count every notch on her spine from the base of her neck to the tip of her spine. She is eating, which is a good sign. She needs to be fed a hardy meal of chicken, and white rice or small canned potatoes every hour. In addition to being too weak to stand, she has sores on her hindquarters where she hadn't moved. She will need surgery on her leg once she gains enough weight. She also has heart worm which has to be treated. They said she is gaining weight and is so sweet and grateful for the care she is receiving.

The vet's office was very appreciative when I gave a donation – I was able to do so via a credit card. For anyone else willing to donate to her care at the vet, here is the information for the vet’s office:

Clays Mill Veterinary Clinic

625 Delzan Place

Lexington, KY 40503

859.223.5215

The shelter does not take credit cards, but they do seek donations as they will be taking over Princess's care when she is released from the vet. But it will be some time before she is well enough to be released to them. When she is released, Amy Young, the head of the shelter, will take her home to care for her. They are asking for donations of white minute rice and chicken for her special diet and blankets as her wounds will require changing of sheets. The shelter's contact information is 606 525-6925 or www.kwaonline.com.

I know there are millions of dogs that need help, but this one has been through so much and obviously has a strong will to live. Please read her story, look at her photos, and help her if you can.

Hi, I just joined the site, and in my exploring, I came across Keylee and Princess' stories.  I looked for an update on Princess, but couldn't find anything... guess it's too old.  Just wondering if anyone knows how she is recovering?  Those pictures tore me up...

Have you seen Bodi ? Young male Vizsla, lost in FtL

Bodi, is a 6 month old VIZSLA. Those not familiar with dog breeds might mistake him for a red hound dog or a Weimareiner.

On Saturday 6/28 at 7:30pm, he escaped from a house at Oakland Park Blvd and A1A in Fort Lauderdale. Wearing a green collar with ID and rabies tags.

After searching for him for several days, we feel that someone must have picked him up in the vicinity of where he was last seen. Two different witnesses spotted him heading southbound along the beach. We have heavily combed from Sunrise Blvd to Commercial Blvd along A1A.

In addition to the flyers, we have run ads in the Sun-Sentinel and on Craigslist - and we are contacting and visiting Animal Care & Regulation and the Humane Society on a daily basis. I greatly appreciate your help.  REWARD - no questions asked

video of Bodi
(video clips start about 1.5 mins into the video)

I have also posted several additional photos in a web gallery:

Sincerely (and thanks)

Male rottie pup needs a home. Seven months old, owner turn in, "can't keep". Being boarded at a vet's, goes home at nite with one of the techs (she lives in a no-dogs allowed place, so sneaks him in & out). He weighs 117 lb, very sweet. Contact me if interested. He is in SoFla.

Our neighborhood little pal, Nikki (a red pom) has been missing since Thur morning. She got out, using the cat door. Jack and I scoured the neighborhood for her.

Her family is devastated. Please keep her safe return, in your thoughts and prayers. Thx
