Having met and photographed him, I love him (non-fans, stop rolling your eyes ;-) Here are the highlights: 1) You are either the pack leader or a follower. Uh, yesterday at park, Jack decided, after looking back at me, 2x...he was PL & jumped into the lake ;-O 2) Calm, submissive state is *so* important (for owners maintain it). Especially when leaving/returning home, feeding, and walking 3) Treat your dog like a dog, not a baby. It's best for him AND you 4) Avoid high pitched noises and crazy (hyper) body language 5) Never make eye contact-pet-touch a dog you do not know (hard for me)

why can't my mom make eye contact or pet/touch a dog she doesn't know?

Dogs may perceive strangers as a threat to them and/or their owner. From a safety standpoint (hard for me, too), it's best not to make direct eye contact with a dog you do not know. Better to look from the side, with your face turned away. After you have permission from owner, approach, present your hand in the proper way, then pet on side or back--not the head.

Tina is 100% correct. Cesar is THE BEST. He comes on the Nat. Geo Channel on Friday nights on the east coast.. it's usually 2 hours.. from 8 to 10. He has a new show and a repeat of the week before. My Mommy thinks he's better than sliced bread when it comes to what he can do with/for a dog and their humans.

I think Cesar Millan is awesome, I love all his methods and techniques, I watch his show every friday, and he helps out so many dogs that were about to be put down and turns them into great pets, with dogs its all about pshycology, and you definitely have to be the pack leader for your dogs to respect you!....oh and its true you should never try and pet a strange dog without asking, and definitely not make eye contact, Ive learned this from experience, If you ever seen wolves trying to demonstrate a challenge or leadership to another dog, they make direct eye contact and usually try putting their paw on the other wolves back or head to demonstrate dominance, so if you do this to a dominant dog, they might see it as a threat and might bite, but most dogs give you a warning and growl. The best place to pet a strange dog is on its chest because your not showing any type of dominance. What happend to me is that when I was younger (like 7 years old), i didnt know much about dog behavior so I went up to my aunts dog to pet her (even though she had told me not to) and i pet her right on the head and i was about to leave when the dog just attacked me and bit me in the face, my whole head was in her mouth, she didnt do much damage just scratches, and they started yelling at her because they thought i was just standing their when she attacked me, but I told them that I had petted her and thats why she bit me, because i felt bad, it wasnt her fault, so i got screamed at, and from that day on I learned to never pet strange or dominant dogs, especially not on the head! lol

Is there any way to watch his shows on the internet? I don't get TV service because I don't like what is on the lower priced levels of most cable or dish networks and I refuse to pay higher prices just to get Animal Planet and National Geo channel. I watch some good shows on cbs, abc and nbc .com full episodes but I can't find Animal Planet and National Geo channels if I could I would be a happy camper!!!!

I have seen his series on DVD at Costco. I own his "People Training, for Dogs". Maybe check a local video/dvd rental place and see if they have....sometimes the used CD/DVD store by me gets them, too!
