Peaches (My pomeranian) has this problem that if he gets nervous, scared, happy, or excited, he'll just completely pee himself. I don't know why he does it, but he's constantly doing it. Now I asked his breeders why this may be, and they have no idea. I wanted to see if anyone here could help me with this problem or how to fix it (train him out of it, etc.) before I started bugging our vet. Does anyone have or know of a dog that also has this problem? Oh, and he is potty trained. It's not that he does it on purpose, this I know of.

Urinating like that is usually a sign of submission. Which is a good thing! Well... not from the in home standpoint. Haha. It's what our dogs did in the wild and it's a shame they haven't thought of a better way to show their submission. Haha. I don't know of any curitave thing you can do. You can take her out more often, but there is always urine in the bladder no matter how much you take her out... so she'll continue to do it.

Are you sure? None of the dog's I've ever owned before have done it. I've heard it's uncontrolable unless some kind of pet theropy was done.

One of my yorkies used to pee in excitement whenever we returned home after leaving him there. We were making a big deal out of seeing him, and once we greeted him calmly the problem ended. Maybe if you can identify what it is that is making him nervous, scared, or excited and try to create a more calm atmoshere for these situations it will help. I assume you have already seen your vet to make sure he doesn't have an infection or physical problem.

Well, none of my dogs do it either. Some dogs do, some dogs don't. But I'm not sure about the therapy. I've never heard that before, Kristy. Could be so, though. Perhaps the therapy is used to control his emotions. Haha. Everything is always worth a try. - How old is Peaches now anyway? (forgive me...I'm at work... which means I risk crashing my computer by going to your profile..haha)

Sounds like SU (submissive urination) to me, which like Jenn said, is good (not medically related - however you might want to have him checked for a UTI, to rule that out). The reason I stick with SU is the behavior is triggered by emotions: nervous, scared, happy, excited. When you arrive home, greet him outside. If you can work on increasing his confidence, he may outgrow it. You may also want to consider a belly-band for him, in the mean time. Tina

We're taking both of our dog's to the vet tomorrow to get shots and whatnot; And we need to make an appointment for Rio to have the opperation he needs. I'll for sure ask, though! I'm almost positive that he doesn't have any kind of infection or physical problem- He's been doing this since we got him. I just was wondering if there was any way to make him stop it. I think you all are right though Maybe it is a good thing. Peaches is 2 years old now. Thanks everyone for your help. <3

It's a submission thing. Just ignore him when he gets nervous or excited and he'll learn not to act that way and then the peeing himself will stop.
