yes - you can embed them in the bio section. Some members are already doing this. (We are also thinking of a video feature for the site - if there is a demand)

The bio section in the profile. I've seen members who've embedded youtube video in there. Use the HTML option in the editor.

So would members perfer to upload videos directly from MyDogSpace then? Or via youtube and then embed it in the profile?

It would probably be a lot easier to just upload them directly from MyDogSpace. Especially for those of us who aren't as good at computers.

Robert my husband does a lot of computer programming and I am sure you and Jim are a lot more tech savvy than me! I know my way around the techie world as I was a manager for Comcast, but as far as programming languages go, I might as well try and speak Japanese (Kitsu''s language lol). YouTube would be able to be seen by the world. I am guessing you are thinking you may need to make a decision on this one soon. My husband would love to give you his input..... after our chicken dinner lol. Also he is a VERY humble kind man, not a "know it all" by any means. His Pic is with me in Kitsu's profile.
By the way, this site is running so smoothly! I don't see all of these bugs (or fleas lol) you mention fixing (and yes I am sure they are there!) but what a sucess of a launch!! GREAT JOB!! Sharon

Hi Robert, Wifey was telling me about your question "So would members prefer to upload videos directly from MyDogSpace then? Or via youtube and then embed it in the profile?"
I think the answer to that question really is up to the site. The answer all depends on whether or not you want to allocate the space for videos. Regardless if you host the site yourself or are using a hosting service, there are associated costs involved. And my guess is that with the number of dog lovers out there this site is going to get big really fast without video upload capability never mind with it.
The simplest solution is to allow people to embed. Maybe create a "My Doggie Video's" section under the blog section on the right of the main page of a user. Then create a form for people to be able to embed from any video web site service, not just youtube. Then make it possible for people to make comments.
At any rate the bottom line is this. You have a winner of a site here. Internet history shows us that when a new site comes out and is successful, someone else is going to try and create another site similar to the original with the idea of being better. The trick is to be able to provide what your users want before someone else does.
Now, More importantly, Kitsune just put his paw on the keyboard and wants to say hi to Hershey! WOOF
Good luck, great site here!

Robert, my preference is to embed the video straight from youtube, I have already uploaded and edited it, i don't want to do that twice or three times (personally). What do you think?? I was not able to embed my video, rather I put the URL there instead, the embeded language was not accepted in html in the bio. not sure why. anyway I can imagine this site would light up fast if videos could be shared as easily or in tandem with youtube. We'll probably offer both. But I've seen members on this site embed videos into their bio - I'll see if I can track it down and find out how they did it.

Check out the help pages on how to embed youtube video. We are also working on a solution that will allow upload on the site directly.
