This thread is for suggestions on how to earn doggie dollars.

Some ideas we’ve received:

- awards for posting (open to abuse – just posting to earn dollars, no real value)
- awards to members for being ‘helpful’. We are still undecided on this – as ‘helpful’ is objective.
- posting badge/banner on other sites to promote MDS: good idea
- posting in forum (again, open to abuse)

I think every dog that has a rubber chicken should automatically get a million dollars. OK, just kidding.

I like your idea of being rewarded for being “helpful” but you’re right, that’s objective. Maybe it could somehow happen on a nomination basis? For example, I could nominate Astrid for hosting a dance, or the Doglets for their creative posts, or Tina for informing me of something I didn’t previously know… but this could end up requiring quite a bit of time on your end, filtering through nominations and sending out rewards…. just an idea, though I haven’t worked thru any details in my head as to how it would work out…

Plus I like a dollar a day for logging on, max 1 per day regardless of how many times you get on.

Suggestions: reward for (being first?) to rate photos. Many photos still need bones, and it certainly makes new members feel welcome.

Reward for flagging inappropriate posts (ie blatant advertising), language, members, things that go against terms of use. Keep the site clean and family friendly.

Rewarding for going on once an hour, not a good idea ~ people will just log on and off every hour. Better to keep them on the site. Plus, some don’t have a flexible schedule or easy access, so it’s not fair to them. I suggest giving $5 in doggy dollars if you log on, in a 24 hour period.

TinaValant: the flagging for dollars and rating for photos – can be open to abuse too. Regarding the login – we already offer that – but its 1 dollar only.

I like the idea of reporting bad content. This isn’t subjective – because I’m sure somewhere you have rules as to what is inappropriate or not. So, either whatever is being reported does or doesn’t meet those rules. It also wouldn’t be something people could abuse, I mean would you really spend your days looking for inappropriate content? No, you’d just stumble upon it. Also, some people wouldn’t bother reporting it so that gives an incentive to keep the site clean.

Just my $0.02. When I get some more cents (or sense) I’ll come up with some more ideas!

Is it posted somewhere an explanation of the doggie dollars? Like, what do you do with the gifts? I am unsure! Also I don’t understand what the bugs are.

Being helpful to new members, saying something nice about someone’s dog picture (mama removed that option from my page), reporting something offensive on the site, isn’t that what I am supposed to do, patrol the site being helpful and saying nice things about other doggies pictures, and leaving nice barks behind on my friends pages? Being a Macho Man Club member means I do these things cause it’s the ‘right thing to do’ and not cause I get rewarded.

I do like that every time mama logs on every 24 hours she gets a point (maybe she will stay home long enough to get back on here more often), and now she will post my badge on my other sites too.

Oh boy new goodies … My human Mom is in her early forties and you would think she is one of the kids getting all excited with these little tags for events and now Doggie Dollars. I love this site, and as the “crazydoglady” puts it, it is so good to have “Bubblegum for the brain!” World can get crazy and life hectic, nice to have a fun place to go :)

What do you think about a number drawing game you know kinda like the mega millions or the big game i mean the big dog, if no one gets the numbers ’’doggie dollars go up’’. Just an idea.

I like the posting badge to promote MDS..we have ours on our mom’s myspace that’s how our family remembers to check out our page. I like the referral method too and the “numbers” method—kinda like a doggy lottery. We’re a little confused too…what are bugs?

i think members should get doggie dollars for their birthdays. I also like the idea of a lottery

bugs: are issues with the site. For instance, certain functions not working as it should be – typically this is related to a programming error (yeah – these dog slaves are never perfect)

You know those photo contests we’ve had? Well we can have weekly ones (or ones every 2 weeks), and have prizes of doggy dollars. First place could get oh say $20. Second place could get oh say $10, and third place could get $5. And then everybody else could get a dollar for joining in.

Birthday doggie dollars, referral doggie dollars, doggie lottery, photo contest doggie dollars…I don’t know how much trouble they all are to maintain and keep up with but they all sound good to us. Oh and Kitsune…our mommy is in her early 40’s too and everybody including our daddy think she has lost it over all the doggie space fun and good.

Doggie dollares for ideas accepted by Hershey to 1) promote MDS and 2) Improve an MDS feature or function.

1. Purchase doggie dollars with real human dollars….minimum $20.00.
2. Don’t we already have ambassadors for referrals?
3. Second the idea of birthday dollars
4. Posting on other sites, Monty says “I like the idea of ‘lifting my leg’ on pages all over the internet aroooooooooooooo.”
5. Sophie and Bandit should each get an extra dollar….they ARE BUGS!!
6. A ‘get well’ gift ($2.00) for giving to sick pups!
