I need to get a toy for my pup to play with when I am gone, so he won't cry and disturb my neighbors. Something safe and entertaining. Suggestions?

how about a kong ball. you can stuff it with peanut butter. they also have other kinds of balls that you can put kibble and/or treats in it and the dog has to play with it to get the goodies. I have a couple and I love them. Petsmart and Petco both sell them.

I honestly think a kong ball saved my house, Buddy did not like being left alone when I first got him and he let me know it to, after I got the kong it all stopped. I ran out of shoes to but I don't think that had much to do with it.

I'll go tomorrow to get a Kong from Petco. What about that can of stuff they sell to stuff it with? Am I better off using peanut butter?

Either one.. but the peanut butter itself is less expensive. I also sometimes put yogart in it, and freeze it overnight. They have puppy kongs which are softer that the red ones,, good for teething. May I suggest a teething bone too.. since pups like to chew.. this may keep him occupied and massage his mouth.

MY 1.5 YO WEIMERANER DESTROYED A BLACK KONG THE SAME DAY SHE WAS GIVEN IT - AND SHE PROBABLY WASNT A YEAR YET - IF YOU HAVE AN AGGRESSIVE CHEWER - KONG IS NOT NECESSARILY THE BEST BET - DASCHA TORE CHUNKS OF PLASTIC FROM IT - LUCKILY WE WERE WATCHING AND SHE DIDNT EAT ANY OF THEM...
HORSE HOVES ARE PRETTY DECENT - AND DONT COST UPWARDS OF $20 A PIECE... YOU CAN BUY A BOX AND DISCARD THEM DAILY AT ONLY A HANDFUL OF CHANGE A PIECE... A THOUGHT.....

My goodness, your dog chewed up a KONG??? I thought those were indestructible! Our Golden is a real chewer too- he destroys every toy you give him (but yet has never chewed a shoe!), but the hard plastic of a kong is just hard enough that he hasn't destroyed it. He also has a tire (pet toy, not a real tire) that's hard plastic (or rubber?) that he hasn't destroyed. His favorite is a fake bone- I don't know what it actually is- but it came with peanut butter inside it. He's been chewing on it for about a year and STILL trying to get the last bits of PB that his tongue won't reach. There's ONE toy that he's been chewing on literally for YEARS- since before I met him and his Dad 2 years ago- it's not even a toy- it's the wedge that came out of a small oak tree when it was cut down- just a little round piece of wood- I probably shouldn't recommend it since it has the potential to splinter, but this thing is hard as a rock, his teeth have barely scraped it over the years. He's lost it several times and it always comes back, there's something about this stupid piece of wood that he absolutely loves... of course, I'd ALWAYS recommend a Rubber Chicken! But I guess he did chew the head off of that too.... :)
