Can you find the APBT?

There are a few of these games (or whatever you would call them) out there, but I really like this one. I'm the proud owner of three wonderful American Pit Bull Terriers and it took me a minute to find the APBT! lol! I was pretty surprised to hear that a lot of people really have no idea what a "pit bull" (American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier) even looks like and there are 25+ breeds that are commonly mistaken as "pit bulls". Just for fun I wanted to see (truthfully) how many people could find the APBT their first try and if not, how many tries did it take? http://understand-a-bull.com/Findthebull/findpitbull_v3.html
~Oh, I meant to tell you, there are 5 pages and 20 something different dogs spread out over those 5 pages, but there is only 1 APBT. It's not 1 APBT per page, just 1 out of all 5 pages. I had someone tell me that the game was stupid because they thought that there was an APBT on each page, but it clearly tells you in the instructions that there is only 1 APBT. You can look at each page as many times as you like before you make a decision and when you click on a picture it will tell you what breed it is.~

That's really good though! A friend of mine that owns an APBT as well took 5 or 6 tries before she found it! lol! I honestly got it my first try, but I took my time looking at all of the pictures and I just picked the one that looked the most like our male. I have posted this on a couple other sites and there have been a few people that don't own "pit bulls" and have never really spent any time with "pit bulls" and they got it right the first time.. Well, that's what they said anyway! There are a few more games/ quiz's like this and if I can find them I will post them.

I am so proud of myself, it only took me one try to find the APBT. I did look at all the pages twice then I clicked on the dog that I thought was it and it said I was correct!
I have Rotties and I know how they get a bad rap and I am for all dog 100%! I know it is not the Breed it is the Owner that determines if a dog will be dangerous that is why I fight against BSL any chance I get.
I also watched the video you put on the dog fighting forum section and then went on to watch a lot more videos about dog fighting and to blame the dogs is totally wrong. They do what they think you want them to do so they can please you. It is like being a child of abuse, when all you know is abuse you think it is like there everywhere. In fact children of abuse actually think they are loved because that is all they have even known. The same with a dog. My dogs are my kids and it sickens me to think that someone would do this to them. I pray that God will take care of the suffering dogs that are in the hands of evil people and I pray every night for the dogs that are tortured at the hands of their owners. God did not put dogs or any animal on this earth for us to do this to them.
I think animals are more humane than humans and I think some humans are more animalistic than all animals.

FreedomKat.. Thanks for the post! I agree with you 150%! It's sooo nice to hear that there are people out there that care and that fight all of this animal abuse, BSL, breed bans, etc! You sound like a wonderful person! Thanks for all you have done and are doing to help these doggies and please keep up the good work! : ) Oh and I love Rotties as well! I have never owned a pure bred Rottie, but the last dog I had before we got our APBTs was an awesome Rhodesian Ridgeback/ Rottweiler mix! She was so smart, sweet, loyal, goofy.. just all around an amazing dog!

Thanks, we need to keep each other posted on BSL! It also really upsets me that Vick could get off because of a high priced lawyer. I do hope they have people on the jury (if it comes to a jury trial, I doubt it) that have APBT's as pets and dog lovers everyone! I sure if it looks bad for him he will take a plea deal if he doesn't get someone to take the fall for him. I feel in my heart that he is guilty! If I had my way he would never see the light of day again!
Now with that guy being killed by suposedly Mastiffs in California they will be added to the list of dogs to ban every where. There is a lot of unanswered questions about that and it seems very odd that after two years of living on the property and taking care of the dogs that they would turn on him and maul him to death and for him to be found outside the fence with it shut on the front lawn of the property??????
Simply by the way people are mistreating animals I feel that the world is going down hill very fast!

Shannongrad94.. A friend of mine has an APBT/ Shar-Pei mix and he is the cutest thing! lol! He has all of the Shar-Pei wrinkles.. I love it! Oh, and I saw the picture of Madison on your page, what a beautiful dog! I'm really interested in getting involved with our local shelter, whether it's volunteering, donating money every month, buying supplies like toys, beds, food, etc every month, or something else.. I just really want to get involved! I'm a stay at home wife and pit mommy so, I have plenty of time to volunteer. If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about getting involved? I have never done anything like that so, I'm not too sure how to go about it. Should I just go up to the shelter and tell them that I would like to volunteer or what?

FreedomKat.. I get news letters whenever anything to do with BSL comes up anywhere in the US. If you would like, I can send you the info whenever I get it, that way you can stay updated on this crap, you know.
I didn't hear about the Mastiffs?? That definitely sounds a little fishy! It sounds like something is missing. Did you hear about the "pit bull" that was being accused of raping a little boy? That made me sooo mad! This child was in a home where countless people were with him unattended everyday! People just pretty much went in and out and I guess the parents didn't pay close enough attention to the poor child! Anyway, the boy didn't have any scratch marks on him where the dog would of had to grip him and the dog had grown up with the child and never once showed any signs of aggression! Dogs don't rape people, that is ridiculous and it made me soo mad! I don't know what ended up happening, but I really hope they didn't put an innocent, good dog to sleep and let a child rapist go free!
As for the many different lists of "dangerous" breeds, Mastiffs are already on most of them! In fact, some places have banned any dog that is over 100 pounds! Here is one of the many, many, many lists that are out there..
~I have only included 1 or 2 cities/states where the breed is affected by BSL so that the breeds can be verified as targets.
1. American Pit Bull Terrier (Note: Laws dealing with “pit bulls” also state any mix of the 3 breeds AND the MOST important line, anything that has the characteristics or appearance of these breeds. There are 20+ breeds that are commonly mistakenly identified as “pit bull” dogs. ) (Denver, CO)

I'm definitely going to go to our local shelter on Monday and see if they need a volunteer! I'm so excited! That would be so awesome! I love animals so, it would be so nice to spend time with them and help them out! I can't wait! : ) What all did you do exactly? It is cleaning, walking dogs.. what? I wouldn't be able to be there all day everyday because I have three fur babies at home that need me, but I could definitely at least go for a few hours a day, a few days a week!

We really cannot have another dog right now. We are renting right now and we are living in a small 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house, we aren't really supposed to have APBTs here and we don't even have room for our three, much less any more! lol! Our landlord is being really nice, we have been here a year now and have never had a complaint so, he is letting us get away with keeping our dogs here. For insurance purposes we say that we have Boxer/ Bulldog mixes and we only have 2. It sounds pretty bad for us to lie like that, but like I said, our landlord is being nice and helping us out as long as we don't get any complaints and he told us to say we only have 2 and they are Boxer/ Bulldog mix. So, we have more than enough on our plate right now, we really could not get another dog as long as we are living here. Because of that I think now is a wonderful time for me to volunteer! I absolutely can't bring any of the dogs home so, I won't be as tempted, you know. I just really want to help these poor animals out! If nothing else, I could at least give them a lot of love and attention (though, I will do a lot more than that!) and know that I'm making a difference! I'm so excited! I'll keep you posted and let you know if I'm going to be volunteering and if so, what I'm going to be doing! : )

Shannongrad94, you asked what BSL was, it is Breed Specific Legislation, where they are trying to ban certain breeds and not letting people own them. In Denver the banned the "Pitt Bull" as they called it and even went so far as to make the Vet's tell them who owned that breed of dog and they went door to door taking people's beloved pets to have them put to sleep just because the were "Pitt Bulls". They had people moving their dogs out of Denver so fast and having others keep them until they could sell and move. Believe me I would not had my dog over.

Shannon.. I don't know how I didn't catch that, but I didn't notice that you asked what BSL was! Sorry! FreedomKat has already done a good job explaining it, but I wanted to add that they don't completely ban breeds all of the time. It depends on the city. Breed-specific legislation (BSL) is designed to place restrictions on ownership of certain breeds of dogs. Typically, the restricted breeds include pit bull-type dogs (usually vaguely defined), followed by Rottweilers. Other breeds may include German Shepherds, Chow Chows, Presa Canarios, Dobermans, Cane Corsos, Huskies, Boxers, and mixes of these. Breed-specific legislation creates a number of restrictions or regulations on any one breed. Owners of certain breeds of dogs may be required to:
-Keep the dog muzzled in public
-Purchase insurance for the dog
-Keep the dog on its owner's property at all times (no trips to the park, the store, etc.)
-Keep the dog in a specific enclosure at all times.
The most common kind of breed-specific legislation completely bans all dogs of a certain breed. This means that all dogs of the banned breed must be removed from the area or euthanized. In other words... family pets (In most cases they aren't just family pets, they are FAMILY!) will be taken out of their homes and KILLED just because of their breed. It won't matter if the dog is a police dog, a therapy dog, a search and rescue dog, a show dog, a family dog or a truly mean dog! If it is one of the breeds affected by BSL in that city it will be taken and it will be KILLED.
Also, different cities have different lists of so-called "dangerous" breeds. Some cities just consider "pit bulls" to be "dangerous", some consider "pit bulls", Rotties, Dobies, Chows, German Shepherds, etc. to be "dangerous" and some cities have even gone as far as banning or restricting any dog that is over 100 pounds! As I have said before, BSL is absolutely ridiculous and all it will do is cause a false sense of security! It doesn't address the real problem! Any dog can cause serious harm to someone or something and any dog can be made mean!

I'm really happy to see that so many people are finding the APBT in the first few tries! That is wonderful! So many of these "pit bull" attacks that we see on the news aren't even "pit bulls" at all and the people that don't really know what a "pit bull" looks like will believe just about any dog that someone says is a "pit bull" is actually a "pit bull"... It's good to see that there are people that can tell that most of these stories are crap! lol!

If it is Black and Tan usually it is said to be a Rottweiler even though it is probably a Doberman mix. It could have a long coat like a Golden Retreiver but if it is black with a little tan than it is a Rottweiler. A pack of dogs that killed a lady in our area when they showed the dogs on TV they looked all black and could have been labs but they said they were Rottweilers and Pitts.

Haha! That's sooooo true! If there is a dog attack or any kind of negative dog story and the dog is black and tan it's a Rotty and if the dog isn't black and tan, but it has a somewhat big head and any kind of muscle definition at all it's a pit! lmao! BUT.. If the dog is a pure bred (or at least obviously looks like) Rottweiler, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier or Staffordshire Bull Terrier and it does something good, they call it a Boxer mix or some other kind of mix! lol! The media is ridiculous, you really just have to laugh at some of these crazy stories!

Beautiful Rottie! I just love looking at photos of Rotties. My girl loves to swim but Justice gets in and will go only until his feet don't touch and then he slaps at the water with his front feet while walking on his back feet.

I should be ashamed since my last dog Abby was a apbt, the first link it took me 4 tries but I nailed it on the second. I was forced to do the right thing for her after 17 years. My border collie is smarter but the one thing that makes me think "Abby" will never be topped is the way she always seemed to be empathic to what I wanted.
For the most part Buddy my BC will do anything I ask but he is a bit high strung, with Abby I never even really had to ask or command, I never really gave her any formal training at all, she just knew somehow.
And for the record, she was the biggest baby you ever did see. I cant remember her ever even growling at another person or dog. I cannot stand the bad publicity these great dogs get based on the irresponsibilty or down right stupidness of their owners

AwWwWw! Abby sounds like she was an amazing girl! I'm sorry for your loss! : ( My Brooklyn sounds a lot like your Abby! Brooklyn was our first and oldest APBT, we got him when he was 8 weeks old and he is over a year now and Brooklyn is also our only male APBT. We never took him to any classes, professional trainers or anything like that and we haven't even really had to train him! He just seems to understand what I say to him and he just knows what to do. I catch myself talking to him as if he is a person sometimes! lol! It sounds a little crazy, but I have trouble remembering that he is a dog sometimes! He is just so smart, laid back, goofy and human like! Our girls are very smart, goofy and human like at times as well, but Brooklyn is truly a unique dog!
