My husband and I live in the tiny town of Palm Coast FL and we own three amazing American Pit Bull Terriers that are like our children, we have wanted to leave Palm Coast ever since we moved here about three years ago, but we have ended up staying because people here have been so nice about our dogs (and it's just easier to live here for my husbands job). We were already planning on moving in the next year or so, but after seeing this, I want to move **now!** This is horrible! I was getting chocked up just reading the story! I got up, made my coffee, turned on the news and saw this story! This breaks my heart and it's disgusting that someone could really be that close-minded, heartless and sick! It's people like that that need to be banned and/ or put to sleep! Check out this story.. So sad! http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/News/Local/newFLAG01080507.htm I already think someone tried to poison one of our dogs a while back and now this! I don't want to live here anymore! I would go crazy if I lost my babies! : (

You are right look at the number of people that like to go to Dog Fights and take they children to watch as well. That is teaching the next generation that it is okay to hurt any of God's animals. NOT GOOD! For the life of me I can't understand how someone can take a live animal and torture it and enjoy it. They have to be sick really sick to be able to do this and then when that isn't enough they will advance to small children since they are really bullies themselves so they can't pick on someone their own size.

This a terrible story but the poor dog is going to be ok, this happened yesterday in victoria australia, this is the article from local paper, although the fines are high this really deserves a long jail sentence Police investigating the impaling of a dog in central Victoria on Wednesday night say it is the most despicable act they have seen against an animal. A woman in Jennings Street, Bendigo East, was woken by the cries of a dog about 12.15am (AEST) and found it impaled on a steel fence. A police spokeswoman said the black female labrador was cut from the fence by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. A vet, council ranger and police were also on scene, and the dog was taken to a veterinary clinic where two steel stakes were surgically removed. Bendigo Acting Sergeant Craig Pearse described the incident as despicable and called for any witnesses to come forward. "It appears that it may be a deliberate act, aggravated cruelty to the animal, although investigations are continuing," he told ABC Radio. "It's the most despicable act I've ever seen against an animal." The dog is expected to recover. Eaglehawk Road Veterinary Clinic vet Dr Raquel Stoll said the metal stakes had gone about 10cm into the dog, between her hind legs and abdomen. Dr Stoll said the dog was bright and happy, but it was unclear if she would ever walk again. "We can't say she's definitely going to be able to walk, but she can move herself around and I'm sure there's a lot of trauma to those muscles, so it will just take a bit of time," she told ABC Radio. Dr Stoll said it was "disgusting" that someone may have deliberately impaled the dog, but said it was possible she had accidentally done it to herself. "Dogs can occasionally do that to themselves and they can jump surprisingly high as well," she said. "If it is (deliberate), it's just disgusting that somebody could be involved in that." Dr Stoll said they were yet to find the dog's owners. RSPCA Victoria president Dr Hugh Wirth said deliberate animal cruelty was on the rise in Victoria. He said the Victorian government was pushing through legislation to double the fines for animal cruelty from $6,000 and/or jail for injuring an animal, and $12,000 and/or jail for killing or permanently maiming an animal.

That is so sad! I guess a while back some neighbors of my freinds had their 3 dogs poisoned! They were Pit Bulls. It was 2 brothers and a sister pit. My friend said they were the SWEETEST dogs she has ever met. Why are people so sensless when it comes to dogs? My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a dog so brutally.

Tezza.. That's horrible! I just don't understand some people! I can't even kill a bug, I don't see how people can hurt these poor animals! : ( Redgingerkisses.. We think we had the same thing happen to us! We currently own three American Pit Bull Terriers, but when we first moved into the house we are in now, we only had one. We had our male, Brooklyn who is now over a year old, but when we moved in he was just a puppy! Anyway, we use to walk him around the block a few times everyday, we would go down our driveway, go left down the street, turn right and walk down the street that goes behind our house. After a while Brooklyn started to get sick, he was throwing up and had the runs so, we took him to the vet. The vet told us that he must have eaten something that didn't agree with him, after a few days it went away and he was back to normal. Then a few days later he started getting sick again! I remembered that I had seen a story on the news about people putting little pieces of food with some kind of poisoning in them, in their yards so if an animal came in their yard they would eat it and get sick. So, we decided to start walking him around a different block. We started to go left out of our driveway and then turn left to go down the street that was in the front of our house and one street over and after a while Brooklyn was fine! We now walk all three of our dogs that same way still and we haven't had a problem since then! Our neighbors have three dogs as well and they had the same problem! They now walk their dogs the same way we do and they haven't had any problems either! We never saw our dogs eat anything, but they niff around and pick up leaves and sticks so, we think maybe Brooklyn ate something and we didn't notice. Now anytime any of our dogs pick something up we stop and take it from them. It's sad that we have to worry about our dogs while we are with them walking the in our own neighborhood! What bothers me is that MOST "pit bulls" (American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers) are absolute sweet hearts, but no one ever gives them a chance because of the few heartless morons that get these breeds to abuse and torture them! When our neighbors first move in they were so scared of our dogs because they had heard we owned three "pit bulls". They have a 2 year old son and a 3 year old daughter so they were scared for their children. The second they met us and our dogs they completely changed their minds about "pit bulls"! They love our dogs and our dogs love them! In fact, anyone that has really taken the time to get to know us and our dogs have changed their minds about "pit bulls"! I'm not saying that they all love "pit bulls" now, but they at least know that they aren't born mean. Our neighbors are looking to adopt a "pit bull" puppy now! Because I have never owned the other two "pit bull" breeds I don't know too much about them, but like I said, we own three APBTs and they are one of the most stable, people-friendly breeds in existence and that's a fact. In temperament testing they always test way above most popular family breeds such as Goldens and Beagles and they are one of the best breeds to have around children. "Pit Bulls" are currently used and suitable for all types of service work including drug detection, emergency rescue, service and therapy work, military service, and much more. The American Pit Bull Terrier is additionally one of the most intelligent and easy to train breed of dogs. The trainer of the show dog Lassie has even remarked on how the APBT is his choice of breed for training. These dogs are amazing dogs that have just happened to attract the wrong people and because of that they have gotten a horrible name! In Palm Coast we have a bunch of little canals all over the place and I also heard that last year they found 10 "pit bulls" cut up and thrown in a canal in Palm Coast! These weren't fighting dogs or strays, these were peoples family pets! Good, sweet dogs that lived in homes with children! Obviously someone here has a HUGE problem with these breeds and they are disturbed and heartless enough to go take peoples friendly, loving family pets and butcher them! I told someone about all of this and they told me that what that person did was a good thing and it needed to be done! They told me that someone is obviously concerned for those families so, they saved them from their pets!?!?! I didn't even know what to say to that! I don't understand some people! I can't even fit that in my head! How can normal people think like that?? People male me sick! : (
